Pods, Pods, Pods!

http://www.gadflyonline.com/11-26-01/invasion3.jpg

Podcasting. Interesting concept. I guess I have seen and used podcasts from iTunes. I got the Radiohead 'concert' footage of the band recording In Rainbows from iTunes.

Other than that I haven't really used podcasts. I am not really interested in keeping up with anything on a regular basis. (Am I old or bored?)

I can see how podcast could be useful after listening to Nancy Keane talk at Tuckahoe. She cited examples of Libraries using podcasts for booktalks.

That would be a neat way to reach readers. I am not sure if we have the type of users at our branch who would be interested in using the computer to find out about books. (I think they just want to 'computer talk'...)

Think before you Tweet

Unbelievable stuff! via Macworld

I heard about the Charlie Villanueva incident on ESPN and saw the 'Twitter Juror incident' earlier today.

I was really astounded at the 'Cisco Twitter' posting.

Tweets?

I maybe getting old or too boring or not really caring, but I don't see what the big deal is about Twitter.

If I was 20 years younger, not having a care in the world and still burning the candle at both ends I might see the value of using Twitter.

(My personal opinion. If you use it and love it, 'Rock On' with your bad self!)

The only value I can see from Twitter might be reading first hand news accounts from folks at the scene of a newsworthy event ( the plane landing on the Hudson and the bombing in Mumbai). However, with 24 hour news feeds I get from cable tee-vee and the internet I have reached my personal saturation point on news rather quickly.

Maybe if I ever get an iPhone or Blackberry I might change my mind and want to Tweet, but for right now, I am good.

Guess what I am now?

Pluto's day is at hand.

Yeah I know, John 'Bluto' Blutarsky, but I had to work it in somehow…

Stop Making Sense

When I have nothing to say, my lips are sealed.
Say something once, why say it again?

Do I need to post something if I don't have anything to say?

What's okay for Oklahoma...

Oklahoma has an official State Rock and Roll Song.

Rock on!

RSS feeds... Golly!

Well, well, well. I have been receiving RSS feeds and didn't even know it.

So way back when I signed up for my GMail account ( I was one of the first GMailers) I started receiving all kinds of feeds from the RTD, MLB and CNN and didn't know what the heck they were and how they got their.

Now I know.

I thought they we kind of annoying, because I couldn't read them fast enough and since I checked the webpages daily the information was out of date to me anyway.

I don't really have any blogs that I sign up to receive RSS feeds from because really don't care that much about what other people blog. I like pointing my browser to their blog to see what else they have going on the RSS might miss

Keeping head of the curve?

A few weeks ago I posted an item from the NY Times titled 'The Future of Reading in the Web Age'. I was surprised when I saw it appear yesterday on another library related blog.

Am I ahead of the curve or do professional type bloggers have more important things to discuss and eventually get around to these things?
